Imagine

I find it difficult at times to clearly articulate how stuttering can affect someone’s life. I’m not just talking about the physical block but more about real world examples of decisions made because of the stutter.

“Imagine” is a new category I want to explore on this blog. These will be examples of stuttering in the real world.

Imagine hanging out with your friends at someone’s house when a decision is made to order pizza. You are the closest to the phone so your friends ask, “hey can you order the pizza?” Your heart races at the thought of having to say your name, phone number and even street address (all things which cannot easily be changed.)  You make some excuse to do something else and hope someone else makes the call. You hope no one notices your avoidance. You hope they never ask you again to order the pizza.
